From 2011 to 2015, they were an IT/Data Center Manager at Heartland Paper Company, where they managed the day-to-day activities of the company's data center and IT department. From 2015 to 2016, they were a Software Engineering Manager/Software Engineer at Meta Payment Systems, where they led and grew a team of software engineers. From 2016 to 2019, they were a Senior Developer at Carsforsale.com, where they maintained an existing VB .Net lead management tool and designed and built a new architecture for displaying and managing customer websites. From 2019 to 2021, they were a Senior Software Engineer at LegUp, where they worked on the provider portal, childcare directory, and other admin software. From 2021 to 2022, they were a Senior Software Engineer at Carsforsale.com and from 2022 to present, they have been a Lead Software Engineer at Fusion Worldwide, where they have been working on a team of .Net Blazor developers to migrate an existing critical internal winforms application to a Blazor WebAssembly app.

Rob Simmermon obtained a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from South Dakota State University between 1996 and 2000. Rob then went on to earn an M.S. M.B.A., M.B.A. from Colorado Technical University between 2002 and 2004, with a focus on Information Technology, Technology Management, and Project Management.
