Nicholas ‘Nico’ Abuid, Ph.D.

Field Application Scientist at Carterra

Nicholas 'Nico' Abuid, Ph.D. has worked in a variety of roles since 2007. Nicholas ‘Nico’ began their career as a Sales Associate at Importadora Nicolas and Almacen "El Estudiante" from 2007-2012. From 2012-2014, they worked as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at the Inspired Nanomaterials and Tissue Engineering (iNanoTE) Lab, where they gained experience in material synthesis and characterization. From 2015-2021, they worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow and Researcher PHD Student at the University of Florida, where they developed nanoscale, bioactive coatings to functionalize the surface of cells and cell encapsulation platforms in the context of type I diabetes. Since 2021, they have worked as an Application Scientist at ACROBiosystems, and they are currently employed as a Field Application Scientist at Carterra since 2022.

Nicholas ‘Nico’ Abuid, Ph.D. has an extensive education history. Nicholas ‘Nico’ obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Florida in 2020. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Biomedical/Medical Engineering from Texas A&M University in 2015. Before that, they attended Blinn College from 2010 to 2012. Additionally, they have obtained a certification in Animal Handling and Techniques from the University of Florida.
