Walid Azar is an accomplished scientific professional with extensive experience in the fields of biochemistry and molecular biology. Currently serving as the Chief Scientific Officer and Chief Translational Officer at Cartherics Pty Ltd since August 2020, Walid Azar previously held the position of Research Scientist at CSL and conducted postdoctoral research at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. A PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology was obtained from the University of Melbourne, where Walid Azar made significant contributions to the understanding of Insulin-like growth factor binding protein-2 (IGFBP-2) in cancer models, resulting in numerous first author publications in prestigious journals. Early career roles included research assistant positions at the Florey Neuroscience Institutes and Murdoch Childrens Research Institute, focusing on animal models and various experimental studies.
