Luis Alcantara

Project Manager at CARTO

Luis Alcantara has a long history of working in the technology sector. Luis began their career in 1999 as an MSc Student at British Telecom, where they worked on a project analyzing, configuring, and dimensioning the Gb interface of GPRS networks. In 2000, they were promoted to Network Architect/Designer at British Telecom, where they worked on UMTS Core Packet Network Design. In 2001, they founded Rigel Mobile Solutions Provider and served as the CEO, developing mobile and wireless solutions for the industry, government, and residential users. In 2011, they were appointed Mobile Operations Director at Apara, managing development projects, people, and recruitment. In 2014, they joined Blue Telecom Consulting as Solutions Manager, where they managed the MAM Solution for supervision and analysis of IoT QoS of cellular networks and application QoE. In 2015, they became Product and Innovation Manager at Wellness Telecom, where they were in charge of the Product Design and R&D department, defining internal platforms and strategy for technology transfer from R&D projects to market-ready products. In 2017, they joined Sngular as Regional R&D Leader and Project Manager, setting up and running a corporate structure for management of Research and Development activities. Most recently, in 2019, they became Project Manager at CARTO.

Luis Alcantara obtained their Telecom Engineer degree from Universidad de Sevilla in 1998, where they studied Telecommunications and Electronics. Luis then went on to pursue their MSc in Communications Systems from Swansea University in 1999.
