Kari Craun is the Executive Director of the Cartography and Geographic Information Society, a role held since May 2022. With extensive experience in geospatial science, Kari Craun previously served as the Director of the National Geospatial Technical Operations Center at the U.S. Geological Survey from December 2005 to December 2019, and held the position of Chief of the Central Region NSDI Partnership Office, where leadership involved developing partnerships for geospatial data. Additionally, Kari Craun has held leadership roles as Past President of CaGIS (2009-2013) and ASPRS (2006-2009). The educational background includes a Master of Science in Geographic Information Science from Northwest Missouri State University and degrees in Civil Engineering/Photogrammetry from Purdue University and Geology from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Early career experience includes work as a cartographer at the Defense Mapping Agency.
