James Belfer's work experience includes serving as a Board of Advisor for the Block Museum of Art at Northwestern University since January 2023. James co-founded and served as CEO of Cartuna, an online and mobile destination for adult cartoons, starting in April 2015. James also worked as an Adjunct Professor at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, teaching undergraduate film courses beginning in September 2013. James was an investor at MESA+, an early-stage venture fund focused on digital media, e-commerce, and advertising technology in the New York market, starting in June 2012. James founded and served as the Executive Producer of Dogfish Pictures, a film production company, from October 2009 to December 2021. Additionally, James is the Founder and CEO of Dogfish Accelerator, the first accelerator program for film producers, from May 2012 to May 2015. James also worked briefly as an Associate at TechStars from May 2012 to August 2012.
James Belfer pursued their undergraduate studies from 2005 to 2009 at Northwestern University, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree. During their time at Northwestern, James focused their studies on a variety of subjects including Radio/TV/Film, Theater, Performance Studies, and Communication Studies. After completing their undergraduate studies, James went on to further their education and attended the NYU Stern School of Business from 2011 to 2013. Here, they obtained their MBA degree with a specialization in Entrepreneurship & Innovation, as well as Business Analytics.
