Dr. Savello has served on the Company’s Scientific Advisory Board since February 2004. He is a Founding Member of NDA Partners LLC, a strategic and regulatory service company and currently serves as Senior Vice President of Development at Xenoport, Inc. Before joining NDA partners, Dr. Savello served as Executive Vice President and Chief Scientific Officer for the Pharmaceutical Technologies and Services Division of Cardinal Health. Prior to joining Cardinal Health, Dr. Savello was Senior Vice President for Drug Development at Guilford Pharmaceuticals Inc. He also served at Glaxo Wellcome for over 11 years as both Vice President for Drug Development and Vice President of Regulatory Affairs and Compliance. While at Glaxo, Dr. Savello was responsible for the development and regulatory submission and approval of a number of products including Serevent®, Flovent®, Flonase®, Imitrex®, Epivir®, Zofran®, and the Zantac® Rx to OTC switch. He also has held R&D management and executive management positions at Boehringer Ingelheim and 3M Riker Laboratories.
Dr. Savello has been active throughout his professional career in scientific and trade associations. He was elected to the executive council for AAPS and served as Chairman for the Pharmaceutical Technology Section. He was a member of the Pharmaceutical Development Section of PhRMA for six years and served as Chairman of that committee. He was also a member and was elected chairman of the Regulatory Affairs Committee of PhRMA. Dr. Savello was a member of PhRMA’s FDA Modernization Act Committee and worked with the Congress and FDA in developing legislation which eventually was signed into law in 1996. Dr. Savello serves on the Board of Directors of Panacos Pharmaceuticals and Gala Biotech. He also serves on the Board of Advisors of A.M. Pappas and Associates and on the Development and Regulatory Advisory Board for Nektar Therapeutics. Dr. Savello received his Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Pharmaceutics from the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy.
