Lindolfo Carballo

Senior Director of Community Economic Development Department at CASA DE MARYLAND

Senior Director of Community Economic Development Department Lindolfo Carballo, MA, began working with CASA in 2010. He is from El Salvador, where he studied biology and was a professor in chemistry, biology, and natural sciences. In the 1980s, he was active against the oppression and human rights violations being committed in El Salvador. He was a leader in the Labor and Student Movement which resulted in him being politically persecuted so, in 1990, he had to flee his country. He decided to move to the Washington, DC area. Passionate about socio-economic justice, Lindolfo worked as a labor organizer with the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and The Union of Needletrades, Industrial, and Textile Employees (UNITE!) in the regions of DC, California, and Massachusetts. For more than ten years, he worked as an affordable housing advocate in Lowell, Massachusetts. Lindolfo has a Master of Arts in Community Economic Development from Southern New Hampshire University. In 2014, Lindolfo help found CASA in Virginia. He manages the Employment, Vocational Training, and Small Business Development programs. He lives in Silver Spring, Maryland.
