ESOL Program Coordinator Rebecca Cusic, MA, joined CASA as ESOL coordinator for Workforce and Life Skills Morning and Saturday programs in 2016 and continues to be excited about working with the ever-expanding CASA. After a 20-year career as education specialist with international non-governmental organizations including IRC, Care, and Save the Children. She finds great pride in adapting her teacher training and curriculum design skills to support sites throughout Maryland and Virginia. She’s always eager to interact with CASA members in Spanish, French, or basic Portuguese as she has lived and worked in Peru, Mexico, Paraguay, Malawi, Guinea, Haiti, Democratic Republic of Congo, and Liberia. As a member of the Education Department, she is equipped with a Master of Arts in Teaching from Towson University. Rebecca believes it has been an incredible opportunity to learn to navigate and create online learning opportunities to better reach community members. Rebecca recently took on the responsibility of Union Secretary and is proud to be working with an organization where what matters can be discussed, and actions that result in positive change can be taken.
