Vernette Allen has a diverse work experience spanning over 20 years. Most recently, in 2022, they joined Casa Myrna as the Director of Community Engagement and Advocacy. Prior to this, Vernette worked at Built Environment Plus from 2017 to 2022, serving as the Grants Operation Manager. During their tenure, they successfully managed a pilot workforce development program and secured $1.5 million in funding. From 2015 to 2016, Vernette held the position of Program Director at Jewish Vocational Service Boston, where they played a crucial role in implementing the Workforce Development Program. Additionally, they worked at Action for Boston Community Development from 2007 to 2013, serving as the Director of the Financial Futures Initiative and later as a Project Manager for Asset Development. Vernette also has experience as a Grants Manager at Boston University from 2003 to 2005 and was previously the Manager of Grants Compliance at HEALTH SERVICE PARTNERSHIP from 2001 to 2003.

Vernette Allen pursued higher education at Boston University, where they attained a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from 2004 to 2006. Prior to that, they completed their undergraduate studies at the same institution, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Management, with a focus on General studies.

Casa Myrna is Boston’s largest provider of shelter and supportive services to survivors of domestic violence, providing safety, resources, advocacy and information since 1977. We operate SafeLink, the statewide domestic violence hotline, and promote domestic and dating violence prevention through awareness and education. All of our supports are provided to survivors free of charge. We support ALL survivors regardless of race, ethnicity, language, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity or expression, disability, age, or sexual orientation.
