Nathan Sikes has a diverse work experience in the building science and construction industry. Nathan started their career as an Intern/Drafter at Building Envelope Consulting Services, where they gained experience in creating drawings and learning about building science. Nathan then worked as a Building Science Technologist at RDH Building Sciences for three years.
Following this, Sikes joined Intracorp Real Estate LLC as a Building Envelope Specialist/Quality Engineer, where they were responsible for pre-construction design development, field review, and investigation. Nathan also attended the BEST1 conference during their time there.
Sikes then founded and managed the Building Science Community group on Linkedin, a professional networking social media group that brought together professionals in the building envelope, waterproofing, roofing, and windows industries. As the moderator and manager of the group, they facilitated discussions and educated members on various building science-related topics.
Nathan later worked as a Principal - Building Envelope Specialist at Sikesdesign, a consultancy firm providing design expertise in building envelopes. In 2010, Sikes joined Allana Buick & Bers, Inc. as a Senior Consultant, where they offered technical services in the Seattle area. Nathan worked closely with a large team across multiple locations in the country.
Currently, Sikes is a Technical Sales Representative at Cascadia Windows & Doors, where they serve as a source for technical expertise, sales information, and client management in Washington and Alaska. Their role involves supporting architects, developers, owners, specification writers, and contractors in selecting windows and coordinating their sale and delivery to projects.
Throughout their career, Sikes has demonstrated a strong focus on building science and is well-versed in building envelope technologies, construction administration, and design considerations.
Nathan Sikes attended Chelan High School from 1991 to 1993, although the degree and field of study are not specified. Later on, they pursued higher education at the University of Washington. From 1997 to 2004, they obtained a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture (BL Arch) degree, focusing on Landscape Architecture, Architecture, and Construction Management. Then, in 2014, they enrolled at the University of Washington once again to pursue a Master's Degree in Construction Management, which they completed in 2015.
