Scott Shuford has extensive experience in city planning and development, having held roles as Planning Director for the City of Asheville, Planning and Development Director for Onslow County, and Development Services Director for the City of Fayetteville. Scott also operated their own consulting firm, Shuford Planning Services. More recently, they worked as Lead Strategist/Continuing Education Manager and Community Planning and Resilience Specialist for CASE Consultants International, where they used climate science to inform decision making for climate-sensitive professions.
Scott Shuford earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Philosophy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1978. Scott then pursued a Master of Regional Planning degree from the same university and completed it in 1981.
