Marsha Thorne is an accomplished Education Specialist, Program Assistant, and Mentor at The Center for Alternative Sentencing and Employment Services (CASES) since October 2014, focusing on workshops and social services for formerly incarcerated young adults. Additionally, Marsha serves as an Associate Producer for the multimedia performance "Lyrics from Lockdown," under the executive production of Harry Belafonte. Marsha’s commitment to mentoring is exemplified with NYC Arches and through participation in the Lyrical Minded Project as a Teaching Artist. Previous experiences include roles as a Production Coordinator at Time Inc., Freelance Producer at Broadcast Music, Inc., and Associate Producer at ABC News, among others, showcasing a robust background in media production and creative development. Marsha holds a Master’s Degree in Education from Columbia University and a B.A. in Television & Radio from Brooklyn College.

The mission of CASES is to increase the understanding and use of community sanctions that are fair, affordable, and consistent with public safety. CASES serves nearly 4,000 individuals annually in programs lasting anywhere from one day to more than two years. Their programs are aimed at high-need populations, including young people, adults with mental illness, and chronic misdemeanants who are homeless, drug-addicted, or underemployed.
