Joseph A. Giannelli is Managing Partner of the firm's Chicago office and a member of the Executive Committee. He focuses his practice on civil litigation, with an emphasis on professional negligence, product liability, construction law and general negligence.
Joe has served as both first and second chair in cases involving a variety of medical specialties, including emergency medicine, perinatology, cardiovascular surgery, obstetrics, gynecology, neuropsychology and neuroradiology. In addition, he has extensive experience defending medical practitioners, health care organizations, nursing homes and other specialties in cases that were resolved prior to trial.
In the area of construction law, Joe's defense experience includes representation of general contractors and subcontractors in both construction defect and general liability matters including, roof collapses, water intrusion, mold development, structural steel, masonry and concrete defects, as well as problems arising from sewer and water pipes. With regard to general construction liability, he has defended cases brought for injury and death sustained by boilermakers, steelworkers, pipe-fitters, welders, carpenters, electricians, laborers, and operators of heavy equipment, among others.
Joe is a member of several industry organizations, including the Claims and Litigation Management Alliance (CLM). He has also been selected by the National Law Journal as having obtained one of the top ten defense verdicts in the country.
