Darren Liccardo

Cofounder and Managing Director at Catapult Ventures

Darren Liccardo has extensive experience in the engineering field, having worked for a variety of companies since 1998. In 1998, they worked as an Electrical Engineer for Exponent (formerly Failure Analysis Associates). Darren then moved to Lockheed Martin Missiles and Space, Advanced Technology Center in 1999, where they worked as an Engineering Research and built and demonstrated a prototype CDMA ultra-wide band time-of-flight ranging system for satellite navigation. In 2003, they became the Director of Software, Inertial Systems at Crossbow Technology Inc. Darren then moved to BMW Group in 2009, where they were a Technology Office USA, responsible for technology identification, business development, research, and engineering strategy; they were also a founding member of the ADAS/Autonomous Driving efforts in the US. In 2014, they became the Director, Engineering, Autopilot at Tesla Motors. In 2015, they became the VP Engineering, Systems and Applications at DJI. Finally, in 2018, they became the Cofounder and Managing Director at Catapult Ventures.

Darren Liccardo obtained a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from the University of California, Berkeley between 1997 and 2003, focusing on Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.
