Brian Hefner has extensive work experience in the field of education. Brian began their career in 2001 as a Sixth Grade Teacher at Blackburn Elementary in Catawba County Schools. Brian then served as an Assistant Principal at Fred T. Foard High School and later at Oxford Elementary. In 2009, they became the Principal of Blackburn Elementary, a role they held until 2015 when they were promoted to Principal of Maiden Middle School. Most recently, in 2019, they were appointed as the Principal of Maiden High School. In addition to their work in schools, Brian Hefner also worked as an Adjunct Professor at Lenoir-Rhyne University starting in 2012.
Brian Hefner has a strong educational background. Brian attended St. Stephens HS from 1992 to 1996, where they earned their HS Diploma with a focus on the General Curriculum. Brian then enrolled at Appalachian State University, completing their Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from 1996 to 2000. Brian continued their education at the same university, pursuing a Master's degree in Elementary and Middle School Administration/Principalship from 2005 to 2006. Building on their knowledge and skills, they returned to Appalachian State University once again, completing an Educational Specialist degree in Educational Leadership and Administration, General from 2014 to 2016.
