Director of the Innovative Genomics institute, Professor Doudna is best known for the discovery of the CRISPR gene editing platform. Her biography contains innumerable awards and accolades for her pioneering work in gene editing and RNA biology.
She has overseen the launch of many successful startups and has been a faculty member in UC Berkeley's Department of Molecular and Cell Biology since 2002.

Catena Biosciences was founded in 2020 based on technology developed in the Francis and Doudna Labs at UC Berkeley. Their platform allows for the rapid coupling of proteins for the creation of novel therapeutics in autoimmune disorders, oncology, and vaccine development.
