Somesh Mohapatra

Somesh Mohapatra is a highly accomplished professional with extensive experience in analytics and engineering. At Caterpillar Inc., Mohapatra served as Manager in both Analytics - Electrification and Analytics - Strategic Procurement and Planning, leading initiatives to develop a comprehensive data platform for electrified mine sites and enhance supply resiliency through data analytics. Currently, as a member of the LGO Alumni Board at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Mohapatra contributes to social and networking efforts. Previous experience includes internships at Amgen, where Mohapatra achieved significant advancements in drug synthesis, and co-founding MatSci AI, which focused on optimizing business development in the pipeline industry. Mohapatra holds a B.Tech. in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, and a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where notable research involved the application of machine learning in macromolecule design.
