Chang M. Liu

Chang M. Liu is the current President, Chief Operating Officer and Director at Cathay Bank. Chang has over 20 years of experience in the banking industry, specializing in commercial real estate lending and asset management. Prior to joining Cathay Bank, Chang was the Executive Vice President and Chief Lending Officer at Banc of California from January 2011 to February 2014. In this role, Chang managed multiple lending groups with a focus on commercial real estate loan production and asset management of the commercial loan portfolio. Chang also interfaced with OCC regulators for loan quality exams.

Before joining Banc of California, Chang was the Senior Vice President at U.S. Bank from October 2009 to December 2010. In this role, Chang led a team that managed a $3 billion portfolio of both performing assets and a portion of non-performing assets across Los Angeles, Orange and San Diego Counties.

Prior to U.S. Bank, Chang was the Senior Vice President at California National Bank from January 1999 to October 2009. In this role, Chang was responsible for commercial real estate loan production and asset management of CRE assets. Chang also managed a team of loan producers and underwriters with a focus on construction and bridge loans.

Before joining California National Bank, Chang was the Vice President at Fuji Bank, Limited from January 1994 to December 1998. In this role, Chang was responsible for AVP at Sumitomo Bank of California from January 1990 to December 1994.

Chang M. Liu received their Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of California, Los Angeles.
