Gil Alvarez

Gil Alvarez is a seasoned banking professional with extensive experience in commercial real estate and construction lending. Currently serving as Senior Vice President and Team Lead for CRE & Construction at Cathay Bank since January 2022, Gil has previously held significant roles at First Interstate Bank, where responsibilities included Commercial Real Estate Manager for Portland and Seattle, and SVP Commercial Group Manager. Earlier in the career, Gil served as Controller at G.L. Bruno & Associates, Inc., and held senior development roles at NewMark Merrill Companies, focusing on budgeting and construction management. As President of Sarasota Select Properties, Inc., Gil successfully led multifamily development projects. Starting the career in community banks from 1990 to 1998, Gil advanced through various positions in commercial banking, contributing to treasury services and credit analysis. Gil holds a Real Estate Broker License and has an educational background from Claremont McKenna College.
