Hongjie Hu

Co-Founder & Managing Partner, Cathay Health at Cathay Capital

Hongjie is Co-founder and Managing Partner of Cathay Health. He most recently built the $2b medtech and digital health portfolio and team of Temasek, Singapore’s state investment company, where he led public equity, LBO and venture investments including investments such as in Alphabet’s Verily, cancer liquid biopsy market leader Guardant Health and behavioral health digital therapeutics pioneer Pear Therapeutics. He also led cross border efforts, including the creation of a Verily-Wuxi China clinical trials technology JV. Earlier at Temasek, he built the global agriculture practice, and also worked on consumer, real estate, and mining investments in China.

Prior to Temasek, HJ worked on technology and tech-enabled services private equity at Bain Capital, H.I.G. Capital, and software and telecom venture capital at Crosslink Capital. He started his career building payment and transaction processing software at fintech companies Tradenable and Valicert. Hongjie has a background in software, hardware and bio engineering and graduated with a BS/MS from Stanford and an MBA from Harvard.
