Brian Smith

Brian Smith has extensive work experience in various organizations and roles. Brian worked for Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City from 2015 to 2018, where he served as the Parish Engagement Coordinator and later as the Director of Parish Engagement. In this role, he raised awareness, provided resources, and assisted in training for Catholic Charities' programs. Brian also coordinated archdiocesan events and fundraising activities.

Prior to that, Brian worked at the Center for Learning and Leadership from 2012 to 2015 as the Self-Advocacy Partners Coordinator. Here, he coordinated activities for the Oklahoma Self-Advocacy Network and trained individuals with disabilities in advocacy and leadership. Brian also co-coordinated a national conference for people with disabilities and professionals.

Before his role at the Center for Learning and Leadership, Brian worked at the Dale Rogers Training Center from 2010 to 2012 as a Research and Advertising Assistant. In this position, he changed the perception of people with developmental disabilities and promoted his capabilities through social media and press releases. Brian also represented the agency at events to encourage more individuals and businesses to contract with and purchase products from the agency.

Brian's earlier work experience includes internships at Sunbeam Family Services, Platinum Floor Care, Crosby-Volmer International Communications, and the Oklahoma Department of Human Services.

Brian Smith earned a Master's Degree in Non-Profit/Public/Organizational Management from Oklahoma City University, completing his studies from 2012 to 2014. Prior to that, he attended The University of Kansas from 2005 to 2010, where he graduated with a degree in Journalism with a focus on Public Relations and Marketing. Brian completed his high school education at Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School from 2001 to 2005.

In 1912, Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City (CCAOKC) opened our doors and our hearts to helping the people of Oklahoma. In the years since, CCAOKC has grown from a small orphanage in northwest Oklahoma City into a multi-faceted service organization with 8 Pillars of Service and five locations throughout the western two-thirds of the state. CCAOKC does not try to be all things to all people – we attempt to serve where others are not, and to partner effectively with service agencies across the communities in which we serve. Throughout its history, CCAOKC has been deeply rooted in Oklahoma communities, kindling hope and supporting Oklahomans in times of need. • The Great Depression: Our young organization expanded to deliver a safe home to orphaned and abandoned Oklahoma children in the 1930s. • Wartime Migration: CCAOKC provided a helping hand and a resettlement plan to refugees arriving from south Asia in the 1960s and 1970s. • Oklahoma City Bombing--When tragedy struck the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building on April 19, 1995, CCOKC was there, offering counseling and long-term case management to those affected. • May 1999 and May 2013 Tornadoes--On two fateful spring days almost 15 years apart, two of the nation’s largest tornadoes touched down in Oklahoma, and CCAOKC’s Disaster Relief program quickly provided essential services and a road map to recovery for thousands of families. Today, the major programs of CCOKC include Family HOPE case management; emergency rent and utility assistance; Sanctuary Women's Development Centers for unhoused women and children; immigration legal services; refugee resettlement; counseling; sponsored housing services for families and seniors; disaster response; adoption and pregnancy services; support and development of educational outreach programs; and advocacy. CCAOKC operates offices in Oklahoma City, Lawtown, Woodward, Enid and Ardmore.
