Tony Smercina has a diverse work experience spanning over several decades. Tony started their career at NCR Corporation in 1984 as an Account Manager. From there, they moved on to Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity in 1989, where they served as the Executive Director until 1997. Tony then became the Executive Director of the Delta Sigma Phi Foundation from 1997 to 2001. Tony joined Charitable Partners, a Pursuant Group Company, in 2002 and held the position of President until 2010.
In 2010, Tony joined The Pursuant Group as the Executive VP/Principal and stayed until 2016. Tony then became Managing Partner at Primeridia in 2016 and took on the role of Chief Development Officer at The Dallas Express in 2022. In 2019, Tony returned to Catholic Extension as the Assistant Vice President for Development, a position they held until 2022. Tony also held multiple roles at United Way of Metropolitan Dallas, including Senior Director, Major & Planned Giving from 2017 to 2018 and Senior Vice President, Corporate Relations from 2018 to 2019.
Currently, Tony Smercina is working as the Assistant Vice President for Development at Catholic Extension, a position they have held since July 2023.
Tony Smercina obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Marketing from the Texas McCombs School of Business, where they studied from 1980 to 1984. In addition to their degree, they also obtained a certification as a Certified Association Executive (CAE) from the American Society of Association Executives in May 1992.
