David Orth-Moore

Director, Strategic Philanthropy And Development For Changing The Way We Care at Catholic Relief Services

David Orth-Moore has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning over several decades. David began their career in 1986 as a Community Development Volunteer with the Peace Corps in Senegal. David served in this role for three years, including an additional year as an intern with CRS/Senegal managing a $500,000 program portfolio for water resource development.

Following their time with the Peace Corps, they worked as a Graduate Fellow at American University from 1990 to 1991. David then joined Catholic Relief Services (CRS), starting as a Project Manager in Liberia from 1991 to 1992. David went on to become the Country Representative for Togo, managing grants, resources, and personnel, from 1992 to 1994. David then served as the Deputy Country Representative of CRS from 1994 to 1997, responsible for managing relief and development programs worth $75 million.

David's next role was as the Regional Team Leader for Southern Africa at CRS from 1997 to 1998. David then transitioned to Catholic Charities of Central New Mexico, where they worked as an Assistant Director from 1998 to 2002, managing integrated programs with a value of over $5 million.

Returning to CRS in 2002, David held several roles, including Country Representative for Ghana from 2002 to 2005 and Ethiopia from 2005 to 2008. In these roles, they were responsible for the overall leadership and management of CRS programs serving rural families in education, health, agriculture, HIV/AIDS, and peace building.

From 2008 to 2018, they served as the Regional Director for CRS in East Africa, overseeing the stewardship of human, financial, and material resources in the region. David ensured the agency's vision was incorporated into strategic planning and management, provided leadership to programs and staff, and ensured programmatic quality.

In 2018, David became the Director of Integrated Information Systems at CRS, followed by the role of Senior Director of Integrated Systems from 2019 to 2020. David then served as the Chief of Party from 2020 to 2023, before assuming their current position as the Director of Strategic Philanthropy and Development for Changing The Way We Care at CRS.

Throughout their career, David has demonstrated a strong commitment to humanitarian work, strategic planning, program development, staff and partner capacity building, and representing organizations at a national and international level.

David Orth-Moore earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Affairs from Juniata College in 1985. David went on to pursue a Master of Science degree in Development Management from American University, which they completed in 1992.
