Laura Tibbitt Macklin has a diverse work experience, starting with their role as a Teacher/Vocational Program Coordinator at Farm of the Child from October 2004 to November 2005. Laura Tibbitt then served as the Adolescent Program Director at the same organization from November 2005 to December 2007.
In 2009, Laura worked as an Economic/Political Intern at the US Department of State from May to August. Laura Tibbitt then became a Policy Intern at the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services from September 2009 to April 2010.
From 2010 to 2013, Laura joined Chemonics International, where they started as an Associate - Latin America and the Caribbean. In this role, they were involved in projects such as the Peru Quality Healthcare (PQH) project and the Central American Regional Security Initiative (CARSI) task order. Laura Tibbitt ensured financial and contractual compliance and played a key role in budget management.

During this time, they managed the Central America Regional Management of Aquatic Resources and Economic Alternatives Project (MAREA), as well as the CARSI Task Order focused on youth crime and violence prevention in the Northern Triangle of Central America. Laura Tibbitt also provided technical guidance and support to field staff.
In 2010, Laura also worked at the Center for Public Policy Priorities as a KIDS COUNT Research Assistant from February 2010 to June 2011.
Laura's most recent work experience is with Catholic Relief Services, where they held multiple roles. Laura Tibbitt started as the Business Development Manager from September 2013 to August 2016, leading business development efforts in Kenya and Somalia. Laura Tibbitt developed proposals for various donors and managed the entire business development cycle.
Later, Laura became the Senior Advisor, OverOps Financial Planning from August 2016 to September 2023. Laura Tibbitt focused on multi-year financial planning and advised on agency cost recovery and cost efficiency.
Currently, Laura serves as the Operations Director, Overseas Operations at Catholic Relief Services.
Laura Tibbitt Macklin earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Theology from the University of Notre Dame in 2004. Laura Tibbitt furthered their education by obtaining a Master of Public Administration (M.P.A.) degree from The LBJ School of Public Affairs, which they completed between 2008 and 2010.
