Karna Lozoya

VP, University Communications at Catholic University of America

Karna Lozoya is the vice president for the Division of University Communications. She is responsible for the strategic, integrated management of Catholic University’s brand, and the implementation of all marketing and communications strategies.

Karna has almost 20 years of experience framing issues and developing communications strategies in both English and Spanish through journalism, public relations, media relations, branding, issues management, and crisis communications. Before taking on her current role she served for three years as the Executive Director of Strategic Communications in the Office of the President at The Catholic University of America.

Karna was the Executive Director of Communications for the Archdiocese of Denver until 2018. In her role she launched a digital-first communications strategy that prioritized email content marketing and text messaging over traditional print communications. She has also served as the English-edition editor of the online news service ZENIT News, and she worked on the team that launched Aleteia. She is the narrator of Crisis: Clergy Abuse in the Catholic Church, a 10-part documentary style podcast produced by The Catholic Project.

A native of Omaha, Nebraska, she has a B.A. in politics from the University of Dallas. She has a graduate certificate in Project Management from Colorado State University, and is currently pursuing a degree in Data Analytics at Catholic University.
