Jonathan Kingston

Jonathan Kingston has an extensive work experience in photography, beginning with their own company Kingston Images in 2002, where they specialized in underwater, science, adventure sports and world cultures photography. In 2004, they were a photographer and instructor for Semester At Sea / ISE, documenting designated activities and programs on ship and ashore, as well as conducting seminars on photography. In 2005, they were an instructor at the Lepp Institute of Digital Imaging, leading digital photography workshops focused on digital capture and post processing. Jonathan was also a photographer for Aurora Photos in 2005. From 2010 to 2013, Jonathan was a photographer for National Geographic, taking on roles such as Photographer for the Nat Geo Image Collection, Photo Expert for National Geographic Expeditions, Photographer for a Nat Geo Society grant on The Lost Fleet of Cortés Project, and Coordinator & Instructor for Nat Geo Photo Camp Montana on the Crow Indian Reservation. In 2008, they were an Author - Trainer for Software Cinema. In 2015, they became an Artist for the National Gallery of Fine Art. Since 2019, Jonathan has been a Photographer for CAVAN IMAGES and a Founding Board Member for Submerged Archaeological Conservancy International (SACI).

Jonathan Kingston attended Virginia Tech from 1995 to 1998, where they earned a degree in Communication with a focus on Mass Communication, Environmental Urban Affairs and Planning. Jonathan then attended the Brooks Institute from 1999 to 2002, where they earned a degree in Commercial Photography with a focus on Underwater Photography. In addition, they have obtained several certifications, including a PADI Dry Suite Diver in June 2001, an Advanced Open Water Diver in July 2000, a PADI Open Water Diver in June 2000, and an FAA Part 107 Licensed Drone Pilot in October 2016.
