Simon Stewart has a diverse work experience. Simon started in 2012 as an IRMS Technician at GNS Science and worked there until November 2013. In December 2013, they joined The University of Waikato as a PHD Candidate. Most recently, they worked as a Freshwater Scientist at Cawthron Institute, starting in May 2018.

Simon Stewart completed their education in the field of Aquatic Biology/Limnology with a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD degree from The University of Waikato. Simon pursued this degree from 2014 to 2018. Prior to this, they obtained a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Stable isotope biogeoscience - freshwater ecology from the University of Canterbury, which they completed from 2006 to 2011.
