James Bates has diverse work experience in the IT field. James started their career in 2005 as a System Administrator at Bates Accounting & Tax, Inc., where they worked until 2021. In 2007, they also served as an IT Coordinator at Ohio Institute of Health Careers, where they were responsible for creating new users, updating equipment, and expanding computer labs.

From 2009 to 2020, James owned Bates Computers, where they provided IT services to clients. During this time, they also worked as a Technical Team Lead at Insight and as a Team Lead at Anu Resources Unlimited. James served as a HelpDesk Analyst for Columbus City Schools for a brief period in 2010.

In 2011, James joined CBTS as a Desktop Support Technician for Columbus City Schools. James was responsible for providing customer service, training new employees, and installing and repairing computer equipment. James also worked as a Helpdesk Tier II Agent, resolving IT issues for users.

In 2015, James briefly worked as an Assistant Manager at Circle K before joining PSI (Proteam Solutions) in 2018 as a Desktop Support Technician for Columbus City Schools.

During their career, James also gained experience as an IT Consultant at JP Morgan Chase, where they managed a team and troubleshooted hardware issues. James was also familiar with ticket systems such as Peregrine and Eagle.

James Bates completed their high school education at Canal Winchester High from 1985 to 1989. James then pursued higher education at ITT Hillard from 2005 to 2007, where they obtained an Associate's degree in CNS. Following this, they attended ITT Indianapolis from 2007 to 2011, where they earned a Bachelor of Science degree in ISS.
