Depuis notre création en 1961, nous avons cru et nous croyons toujours au développement. Pas le développement des grands projets industriels, de l’accroissement des quantités économiques. Mais le développement du potentiel humain, de la capacité de tout humain à vivre pleinement sa dignité, à s’épanouir dans les aspects les plus libérateurs de sa culture, à interagir avec les membres de sa communauté et à devenir un citoyen actif. Notre intuition fondatrice est que si, aujourd’hui encore, un habitant de la terre sur cinq ne mange pas à sa faim, dont une bonne partie de paysans, c’est le résultat de choix économiques, sociaux, culturels et politiques. Le CCFD-Terre Solidaire lutte durablement contre toutes les formes d'injustices en s’attaquant aux causes, des plus locales aux plus globales, de cette forme extrême de pauvreté et d’injustice. Le scandale persistant de la faim a été un point de départ amenant le CCFD-Terre Solidaire à élargir son champ d’action là où le respect des droits élémentaires des femmes et des hommes n’est pas assuré.
