Alan Viars

Alan Viars is a seasoned data and computer scientist currently serving at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in the Office of Public Health Data, Surveillance, and Technology. They previously worked as a HHS External Entrepreneur Fellow at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, focusing on modernizing health systems. As the founder and president of Videntity, they provided security and data aggregation solutions in healthcare. Earlier in their career, Alan coordinated AFIS at the DoD Biometrics Fusion Center, where they implemented the DoD ABIS transaction manager and authored the DoD Biometrics Transmission Specification 1.0. Alan holds both a master's and a bachelor's degree in Computer Science from West Virginia University.
