Blake Cherney

Molecular Microbiologist

Blake Cherney is a Molecular Microbiologist at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention since October 2015, where responsibilities include leading the Next Generation Sequencing Quality Initiative and serving as a Subject Matter Expert in sequencing platforms. Blake provides technical training on BSL3 policies and has contributed to the development of SOPs for NGS platforms for public health labs. Prior experience includes a role as a Legal Field Assurance Specialist at C R Bard Inc., and teaching microbiology lab courses as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Georgia State University, where a Master's degree in Applied Environmental Microbiology was earned. Additionally, Blake has served as a Quality Control Technician at SweetWater Brewing Company, focusing on sensory analysis and statistical evaluation of results. A Bachelor's degree in Biology was also obtained from Georgia State University.
