Carson Telford

Viral Special Pathogens Epidemiology Analyst

Carson Telford, MPH, currently serves as a Viral Special Pathogens Epidemiology Analyst at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention since October 2020, where responsibilities include developing forecasting models and analyzing environmental factors contributing to disease outbreaks. Previous roles at the CDC involved spatial cluster analysis to identify HIV transmission hotspots and participation in outbreak investigations related to vaccine-preventable diseases. Telford has also worked as an Epidemiologist I for Fulton County Government and the Utah Department of Health, focusing on COVID-19 transmission and opioid overdose surveillance, respectively. Telford is pursuing a PhD in Epidemiology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and has completed a Master's in Public Health with a concentration in Global Epidemiology from Emory University. Other educational credentials include specialized summer sessions in Epidemiology and Biostatistics at both Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and University of Michigan School of Public Health, along with a Bachelor's degree in Public Health from Brigham Young University.
