Francisco Alvarado Ramy is an experienced medical professional currently serving as the Chief Medical Officer for Quarantine and Border Health Services at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention since December 2007. Ramy has held multiple significant roles including Deputy Incident Manager for the Zika Virus Response and Supervisory Medical Officer. With a career in the U.S. Public Health Service Commission Corps since June 1999, Ramy also attained the rank of Captain. Previous experience includes serving as an Epidemic Intelligence Service Officer at the Centers for Disease Control from July 1999 to July 2001 and completing a residency at Cleveland Clinic from June 1996 to June 1999. Ramy earned an Executive Leaders Program degree in Homeland Defense and Security from the Naval Postgraduate School and holds an MD from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine, as well as a BS in Biology from Tulane University.
