Michael Mahar currently serves as the Deputy Director for Global Health Integration and Coordination at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, where responsibilities include roles such as Associate Director for Global Health Security and Lead for the Global Health Security Agenda and the World Health Organization International Health Regulations Collaborating Center. Prior to this, Michael Mahar held the position of Science and Technology Fellow at the United States Department of Defense, focusing on the Cooperative Biological Engagement Program aimed at eliminating biological weapons and enhancing biosurveillance. Additional experience includes serving as a Colloquia Fellow for the American Society for Microbiology and a Science and Technology Policy Fellow at The National Academies, as well as conducting post-doctoral research at Princeton University. Michael Mahar earned a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from Princeton University and a B.S. in Biotechnology and Applied Microbiology from Cook College, Rutgers University.
