Tom Philpot

Tom Philpot has a diverse work experience in the software industry. Tom is currently working as a Principal Software Engineer at CDK Global since 2023. Previously, they held senior roles at General Motors, where they worked as a Senior Cloud Architect from 2016 to 2023, leading the IT transformation from on-prem to Azure public cloud. Tom also served as a Senior IT Architect for OnStar Insurance, working on various work streams such as Marketing, Claims, Telematics Data, Customer Engagement, and Insurance Pricing. Before joining General Motors, Tom worked at Faithlife as a Senior Software Developer and Team Lead from 2009 to 2016, contributing to existing software products for various platforms. Prior to that, they worked at Citi as a Senior Software Developer, developing tools for data collection and transformation. Tom also has experience as a Senior Software Developer at FuelQuest, where they worked on the Fuel Management System product. Their career started at IBM as an IT Analyst, where they developed enterprise Java-based software solutions for clients including NASA and the U.S. Navy. Tom also had an early internship experience at Accenture, where they built a Lotus Notes-based application for tracking network components.

Tom Philpot completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Oklahoma from 1995 to 2000. Additionally, they obtained the Diplome d'Etudes Francais in French from Université Blaise Pascal (Clermont-II) - Clermont-Ferrand, during the period from 1997 to 1998. In terms of certifications, they achieved the Microsoft Certified: Azure Developer Associate and Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals from Microsoft, in December 2022 and July 2022 respectively.
