Leah Townsend

Founder in Residence

Leah Townsend, PhD, is an executive with a diverse skill set in life sciences, medical devices, and business consulting, specializing in neurobiology and neurotechnology development. Since 2019, they have led Pulvinar Neuro, a neurotechnology startup spun out of UNC-CH's Department of Psychiatry, which was sold to EPI in 2022. They have secured over $4.5M in non-dilutive funding and achieved FDA's Breakthrough Device Designation for Pulvinar Neuro's lead technology. Currently, Leah serves as Founder in Residence at CED and is a Limited Partner at RTP Angel Fund, while also advising the Carolina Graduate Consulting Club and teaching as Adjunct Faculty at The Graduate School. Leah earned their degree at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill from 2007 to 2011.
