Rachel Ong ViforJ is a distinguished academic and leader in the field of economics, currently serving as Vice Chair at the Asia-Pacific Network for Housing Research since February 2024 and as a Member of the National Housing Supply and Affordability Council since January 2023. At Curtin University, Rachel holds several prominent positions including John Curtin Distinguished Professor, Australian Research Council Future Fellow, and Professor of Economics, alongside roles as Acting Deputy Pro Vice-Chancellor for the Faculty of Business and Law and Deputy Director of the Bankwest Curtin Economics Centre. Rachel also serves as Managing Editor for the Australian Economic Papers at Wiley and is a member of the Council on Economic Policy for CEDA - Committee for Economic Development of Australia since September 2019. As an active member of the Asia Pacific Network for Housing Research since 2012 and a former National Economic Panel Member for the Economic Society of Australia, Rachel brings extensive experience and expertise to the field. Rachel earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Economics from Murdoch University between January 2001 and June 2005.
