Joann Wilchek Basist

JoAnn Wilchek Basist has an extensive career in theatre and education, spanning over four decades. Currently serving as the Immediate Past President of the Civic Theatre Board of Directors and an Executive Board Member, JoAnn plays a pivotal role in promoting literacy through outreach programs while performing as The Cat in the Hat and as poet Emily Dickinson. With a background in acting and directing at various institutions—including Cedar Crest College and Northampton Community College—JoAnn has directed numerous productions and participated in acting roles, most notably in "Crazy for You" at the PA Shakespeare Festival. Additionally, JoAnn has experience in education as a fifth-grade teacher and substitute teacher, along with notable contributions to the Allentown Diocese's academic initiatives. JoAnn holds multiple degrees in Theatre, Education, and Counseling from Cedar Crest College and Kutztown University of Pennsylvania.
