Cell Signaling Technology
Peter Hornbeck is an accomplished professional in the fields of bioinformatics and proteomics, currently serving as Associate Director of Bioinformatics and Director of PhosphoSite at Cell Signaling Technology since October 1999. Hornbeck previously founded Phospho Protein Databases Inc., where the focus was on biomarker discovery and proteomics. At the University of Maryland School of Medicine, an Assistant Professorship involved research on protein phosphorylation in B-cell receptor signaling from 1989 to 1996. Hornbeck's early career included a post-doctoral fellowship at NIH/NIAID/LI, where a novel 2D proteomic approach to studying signaling networks was developed. Additionally, Hornbeck was a Research Fellow at the Cancer Research Institute, investigating B cell antigen receptor signaling. Educational background includes a Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of California, San Francisco, and a BA in Anthropology from the University of California, Berkeley.
