Sean D. McKenna

Sean D. McKenna serves as the Head of Pharmacology at Cellarity since December 2022, overseeing the discovery screening and pharmacological evaluation of therapeutic candidates, including CLY-124, which is currently in Phase 1 trials. Prior to this role, McKenna was the Vice President of Research at Samyang Biopharm USA from October 2018 to December 2022, leading preclinical research in oncology and immuno-oncology and securing a US patent through a novel method of blocking an immuno-suppressive pathway. At EMD Serono Research and Development Institute, from April 2002 to October 2018, McKenna held multiple senior leadership positions in biologics discovery focused on oncology and immunology. McKenna's earlier experience includes roles at Ares Advanced Technology and The Jackson Laboratory, where significant contributions were made to in vivo pharmacology and cancer research. McKenna holds a Ph.D. in Biomedical Science/Immunology from The University of Connecticut Health Center and a B.S. in Zoology/Biology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
