Cherie Hesgrove

Cherie Hesgrove has a diverse work experience in various scientific roles. Cherie is currently working as a Scientist at Cellibre since 2022. Prior to that, they worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Department of Molecular Biology at the University of Wyoming from 2020 to 2022. Their postdoctoral work involved exploring the biophysical properties of tardigrade CAHS proteins and their impact on protecting sensitive client proteins from desiccation damage.

Before their postdoctoral role, Cherie worked as an Associate Researcher at GLYCOBAC, LLC from 2019 to 2020. Their responsibilities included generating and maintaining genetically modified insect cell lines for glycosylating recombinant proteins and performing quality control tests.

Cherie also has experience as a Graduate Student Researcher at the University of California, Santa Cruz from 2011 to 2017. Their research projects included studying HIV mutagenesis, DNA repair, single-strand binding proteins, and RNA dynamics. Their thesis work focused on the mutagenic nature of HIV-1 Reverse Transcriptase and the structural dynamics of a segment of K. lactis Telomerase RNA.

During their time at UC Santa Cruz, Cherie also served as a Lead Teaching Assistant, teaching lab and lecture sections for undergraduate courses such as Microbiology, Molecular Biology, and Biochemistry. Their responsibilities included creating instructional materials, grading assignments, and assisting students.

Cherie's early work experience includes serving as a Teaching Assistant at the University of the Pacific from 2008 to 2011. Cherie assisted in teaching general biology and genetics labs, covering various topics such as phylogeny, mendelian genetics, and molecular biology techniques.

Cherie Hesgrove has pursued a comprehensive education in the field of sciences. Cherie began their academic journey in 2004 at the University of the Pacific, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Biochemistry. Cherie further deepened their understanding of biological sciences through a Master's degree program, also at the University of the Pacific. Cherie's commitment to their field led their to enroll in the University of California, Santa Cruz in 2011, where they successfully completed their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Microbiology & Environmental Toxicology in 2017. Through their educational endeavors, Cherie Hesgrove has demonstrated a strong dedication to expanding their knowledge and expertise in the field of sciences.
