Paula Videira has a long and varied work experience. Paula started in 2004 as a Post Doc at Instituto Superior Técnico. In 2006, they became a Lecturer for scientific research and a Principal Investigator at CEDOC. Paula also became an Assistant Researcher and Assistant Professor at NOVA Medical School, where they taught different courses to graduate (PHD) Medical students and coordinated Glycobiology courses/meetings and the Glycobiology & Glycochemistry e-learning course. In 2011, they were an Invited Researcher at Brigham and Women's Hospital - Harvard Institutes of Medicine in Boston, USA. In 2014, they became an Assistant Professor at Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia da Universidade Nova de Lisboa and an Editorial Board Member for the Journal of Cancer Metastasis and Treatment. In 2015, they became a Principal Investigator at UCIBIO, where they lead the Glycoimmunology research lab focused on the physiological and pathological roles of glycosylation. In 2016, they became the Director of CDG & Allies PPAIN, fomenting research on rare diseases. In 2018, they became a Co-Founder of Cellmabs.

Paula Videira completed their PhD in Biochemical Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico in 2002. Paula obtained their Master's degree in Biochemical Engineering from the same institution in 1998. Prior to that, they obtained their first degree in biochemistry from Universidade de Coimbra in 1995.
