Ben Hsieh

Co-Founder. R&D Director at CellMax Life

Ben Hsieh has worked in the field of research and development since 1998. Ben began their career as a Postdoctoral Research Scientist at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in 1998. In 2001, they joined the (Xerox) Palo Alto Research Center as a Senior Member of Research Staff. During their time there, they were a prolific inventor with over 20 issued US patents, secured over $1M in external funding for Clean Water research from the California Energy Commission, and was a versatile and great team player/leader. In 2013, Hsieh became the Co-Founder and R&D Director of Cellmax Life. In this role, they worked with a patent attorney to expand the company's patent portfolio, built a clinical test lab in Taiwan, guided R&D activities, participated in publication and grant proposal writing, and supervised engineering efforts including microfluidic device fabrication and system automation.

Ben Hsieh received their Bachelor of Science (BS) in Chemical Engineering with a Life Sciences Concentrate from National Tsing Hua University between 1987 and 1991. Ben then went on to UC Irvine, where they earned their MSc and Ph.D. in Biochemical Engineering between 1993 and 1998.
