Brecht Steelant

Brecht Steelant currently serves as a Medical Science Liaison at Celltrion Healthcare Co., Ltd. since April 2023. Previously, Brecht Steelant worked at KU Leuven from September 2012 to April 2023, holding roles as a Senior Postdoctoral Fellow, Postdoctoral Researcher, and PhD student. Research focused on the interaction between immune cells and epithelial cells in the airways, toll-like receptor signaling in respiratory diseases, and the regulation of tight junctions in upper respiratory diseases. Brecht Steelant also supervised PhD students, managed laboratory operations, and taught immunology classes. A brief tenure at the Swiss Institute of Allergy and Asthma Research involved studying epigenetic mechanisms related to epithelial barrier defects in respiratory diseases. Brecht Steelant earned a Master's degree in Biomedical Sciences from KU Leuven in 2012.
