Sylwia Chelstowska, PhD

Sylwia Chelstowska, PhD has a wealth of work experience in the scientific field. Sylwia began their career in 2002 as a Researcher at the Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology. In 2003, they moved to the Institute of Biochemistry and Biophysics PAS as a Researcher. In 2007, they joined the National Medicines Institute as a Research Assistant. From 2009 to 2015, they worked as a Specialist in Flow Cytometry at the Military Institute of Medicine. From 2015 to 2020, they were a Postdoctoral Researcher at Case Western Reserve University, where their research focused on the elucidation of molecular mechanisms governing lipid metabolism in health and disease. Sylwia is best known for their research on function of vitamin A processing enzymes and for delineating the molecular mechanisms contributing to the progressive retinal degeneration in patients affected by pathogenic mutations in the LRAT gene. In 2020, they began working at Cellular Technology Limited (CTL) as a Scientist II, and has since held the roles of Scientist and Junior Scientist.

Sylwia Chelstowska, PhD, obtained a Master of Science (MS) in Biology from the University of Warsaw in 2002. Sylwia then attended the Medical University of Warsaw - MUW from 2010 to 2012, where they studied Medical Analytics. Finally, they earned their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Immunology from the Military Institute of Medicine in 2015.
