On August 15, 2019, the General Assembly of the National Evaluation Center for Higher Education, AC (Ceneval) appointed Antonio Ávila Díaz as general director of Ceneval for the period 2019-2023.
Antonio Ávila Díaz has a degree and master's degree in Economics from the Faculty of Economics of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). In addition, he attended the Project Evaluation Seminar at the Economic Development Institute of the World Bank in Washington, DC, the United States, and the Diploma in Social Business Administration at the Center for Cooperative Studies for Latin America, in Tel Aviv, Israel.
For 24 years he held various responsibilities in the Ministry of Public Education (SEP), including positions such as Undersecretary of Planning, Evaluation, and Coordination; agency representative to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), in working groups on issues related to educational policy and statistics; general coordinator of representations of the SEP in the states.
