Gerald A Maguire, MD has a diverse and extensive work experience. Gerald A is currently the Director of Residency Training in Psychiatry at College Medical Center - Long Beach, a position they started in 2023. Prior to that, they served as the Director of Graduate Medical Education at Oroville Hospital in 2022. In the same year, they were also appointed as a Professor and Chair of Psychiatry at the American University of Health Sciences. In 2021, they held the role of Global Medical Director at the iStutter Center and served as a Principal Investigator at Cenexel CIT. In 2019, Maguire became the Chair of Research and Development at the World Stuttering Network. From 2014 to 2021, they worked at the University of California, Riverside, where they held the positions of Professor and Founding Chair of Psychiatry and Neuroscience School of Medicine, as well as Professor Emeritus. Prior to their time at UC Riverside, they worked at UC Irvine School of Medicine from 1995 to 2014, where they served as the Sr. Associate Dean of Medical Education, Professor, and Director of Psychiatry Residency Training Program. Maguire's career began at the University of California, Davis in 1985, where they founded the student activist group, Students Against the Designated Hitter, advocating for strategic decision-making in baseball.

Gerald A Maguire, MD earned a Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry from the University of California, Davis in 1987. Gerald A then went on to obtain their Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from St. Louis University from 1987 to 1991. Continuing their education, Maguire completed a Residency Training in Psychiatry from the University of California, Irvine - College of Medicine, specializing in Psychiatry Residency Program from 1991 to 1995.
