Gerald A Maguire, MD has a diverse and extensive work experience. Gerald A is currently the Director of Residency Training in Psychiatry at College Medical Center - Long Beach, a position they started in 2023. Prior to that, they served as the Director of Graduate Medical Education at Oroville Hospital in 2022. In the same year, they were also appointed as a Professor and Chair of Psychiatry at the American University of Health Sciences. Maguire's career began at the University of California, Davis in 1985, where they founded the student activist group, Students Against the Designated Hitter, advocating for strategic decision-making in baseball.

Gerald A Maguire, MD earned a Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry from the University of California, Davis in 1987. Gerald A then went on to obtain their Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from St. Louis University from 1987 to 1991. Continuing their education, Maguire completed a Residency Training in Psychiatry from the University of California, Irvine - College of Medicine, specializing in Psychiatry Residency Program from 1991 to 1995.
