Philip Alves

Philip Alves is an experienced Information and Journalism Media Technologist at Centennial College since January 2009, specializing in website design and maintenance, including projects like torontoobserver.ca and centennialondemand. As a professor, Philip taught the Storyworks 2 course in the Professional Writing – Communications program during the Winter 2023 semester and has also taught various journalism courses from 2010 to 2015. Freelance web development work has been a focus since 2000, encompassing website design, development, and consulting. Philip’s prior roles include freelance web editing for Metro News and online editor positions at Town Crier and Vaughan Today, along with experience as a writer, researcher, and photographer for the National Post. Philip holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Archaeology with a minor in History from the University of Toronto and an Ontario College Advanced Diploma in Post-Graduate Journalism from Centennial College.
