David Maxwell

David Maxwell serves as the Vice President and Senior Advisor at the Center for Asia Pacific Strategy since June 2021 and as a Senior Fellow at the GlobalPeace Foundation since June 2022. Previously, Maxwell held positions as a Non-Resident Senior Fellow and Senior Fellow at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies from July 2018 to July 2023 and worked as an Independent National Security Consultant at the Informal Institute of National Security Thinkers and Practitioners in early 2018. With a strong academic background, Maxwell was the Associate Director of the Center for Security Studies at Georgetown University from August 2011 to December 2017 and served as a faculty member at the National War College for a year. A retired Colonel from the Special Forces, Maxwell's extensive military career included leadership roles within the US Army Special Operations Command and various deployments. Maxwell holds multiple advanced degrees in National Security Studies and Military Arts, alongside a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Miami University.
